From the first chord at Store Vega, Inhaler showed their hand: a sharp, rhythmic drive channeled from the likes of Pulp, Billy Idol, and early U2. But by the end of the night, something distinct began to peek through.

The band was formed in 2012 and reached commercial success with their debut It Won’t Always Be Like This in 2021. It topped the charts in Ireland and the UK—a reflection of how well their sound fits the mold. Maybe too well.

Their songs are tight, three-minute indie packages designed to move quickly. They follow structure with precision, sometimes at the cost of adventure. Still, live, the formula expands. Guitars grow in scale. The polish gives way to a more visceral edge.

Frontman Elijah Hewson owns the stage, even as occasional vocal echoes of his father are hard to ignore. Still, his presence is real.

Inhaler’s Copenhagen set didn’t fully break the mold—but it hinted they might one day.
